While Rasheed and 100x were representin' Philly on the emceeing side, DJ Touch Tone was holding it down on the DJ side. He was building upon the awesome legacy laid down by his Philly predecessors like Djs Cash Money, Jazzy Jeff, Spinbad and numerous others. Tone came through the station and ripped a set that had everyone's heads noddin'. He had everyone in the crowded studio standing up to peep out his technique. The kid was flawless and smooth as silk while he was cutting and scratchin' and basically living up to the Philly legacy. To say the least his set was inspirational. During the interview Tone explained that he had been spinning since he was 13 and he currently holds it down everyday at 5 o'clock on Philadelphia's 103.9 FM where he serves up the dopest music around. What really made DJ Touch Tone so impressive was not only would this humble man make most DJs bow down, is the fact that homeboy is blind. His business card says it all 'He can't see you, but he can feel you!. This weekend the Bay Area was feeling Touch Tone. Props to him for showing us all there is no limit to what you can do. |
